Justice for Ken Sposato

Help us change the Move Over Law to protect roadside heroes.

Who is Ken Sposato?

Ken Sposato of LaBelle, Florida was a man deeply loved. He was a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, and a pillar of this community. And he was taken from us far too soon.

Ken didn’t just tow cars—he rescued people. His life was a living mission: to show up, to step in, and to lift others out of the mess’s life throws our way. He gave of himself—his time, his tools, his wisdom—freely and without expectation.

Ken leaves behind a wife, 5 children, and 4 grandchildren. His loss is deeply felt.

What Happened?

On April 14, 2025, Ken Sposato was struck and killed by a driver who failed to obey Florida’s “Move Over” law while securing a vehicle on the roadside in Highlands County. Despite all safety precautions being followed, the driver responsible for his death may only receive a traffic violation and a fine under the current law.

What’s Wrong with the Law?

No criminal penalty, even in fatal cases.

Only a traffic ticket and small fine.

No license suspension or mandatory jail time.

What Needs to Change

We are asking everyone—those who knew Ken, and even those who never had the chance—to join us in calling for change in the Move Over Law. By supporting the petition to raise public awareness across Florida and increase penalties for Move Over violations, we can honor Ken in the way he lived: by protecting others.

  • State-funded campaigns to raise awareness for the Move Over Law
  • Establish an annual “Move Over Awareness Week.”
  • Reclassify Move Over violations as felonies.
  • Five-year mandatory jail time for fatal offenses.
  • Ten-year driver’s license suspension.
